A Chilly Creation

Since I did the witch’s shoe for Halloween, I’ve had an extra boot sitting on my shelf, waiting to become something else.  So I decided in the spirit of all the cold and snow we’ve had this week,  to do a ‘Frozen” themed craft.   I used  some of the wooden blocks I got at the thrift store, a little spray paint and a lot of glitter to create a chilly display for my bookshelf and/or my table.

First the shoe;

I spray painted the boot white and once it was dry, applied a water  thinned coat of white glue to the top portion of the boot.  I purposely made the edges uneven, then I sprinkled a generous amount of white glitter on the glue,  once it was dry, I did the middle portion of the shoe in the same manner using a light blue glitter and then finally the bottom portion using a darker blue glitter.  It is best if you stuff the boot with some newspaper before you begin painting so the boot holds its shape and doesn’t crack.

I did the same technique on a plastic snowflake ornament I had in my craft stash.

Once all that was dry I decorated with matching ribbon, glittered tulle and some small blue snowflake brads from my scrapbook supplies.

The ice cubes;

I took several of the wooden blocks and spray painted them a light blue to match the light blue glitter.   Then I gave each one a spritz of white spray paint on the edges.  Once that was dry I used the same water thinned glue to coat the bottom edge of the block, again, allowing the glue to run a little making a random pattern on the blocks. Then covered the glue with some of the dark blue glitter.   I also added a little spray glitter paint to the over all block once it was dry.

Next, I took cotton batting from old jewelry boxes and cut it, tore it and fluffed it and added it to the blocks to look like snow.

For my first arrangement with the blocks, I cut out letters on my die cut machine and spelled out “Let It Snow” then  I arranged  them on a book shelf with some tiny lights.

This wasn’t my favorite arrangement, so I added the boot.

and then finally, I made a table centerpiece.

There are so many ways you  would be able to arrange these  and they would be perfect for a little girl’s “Frozen” party.

Keep Warm!
