The Legend of the Robin
It was cold in the manger the night the Christ Child was born, and Joseph had difficulty keeping a fire going to warm the child. The robin saw Joseph’s struggles and perched herself near the fire where she flapped her wings all night, keeping the flames going and warming the child. Her breast became bright red from being so near the fire all night. The bright red breast of the Robin is her badge of honor for the heroic deed.
This was a very quick and simple ornament. I took a robin from an arrangement I had, decorated it with some holly berries and added a ribbon hanger. If you don’t happen to have a small bird, you can craft the shape from some air dry clay and paint it with acrylic paint.
